Editing Headers and Footers

Summary: Headers and footers are a nice final touch in a document. You can easily edit them by using the methods described in this tip. (This tip works with Microsoft Word 97, Word 2000, Word 2002, Word 2003, and Word 2007.)

You are probably already aware that you can create and/or edit headers and footers in Word by selecting the Header and Footer option from the View menu. Once you've created a header or footer, the easiest and quickest way to edit it is to switch to Print Layout view and double-click in the header or footer area. (You can also double-click anywhere above or below the document area.) To return to document editing mode, double-click anywhere in the normal document area, or click the Close button on the Header and Footer toolbar.

Tip #1259 applies to Microsoft Word versions: 97 | 2000 | 2002 | 2003 | 2007

Great Idea! Word is a tool to get what you really want—printed output. This means you need to make sure that Word works as well as possible with your printer, whether it is sitting on your desk or in a room down the hall.
