Deleting a Toolbar

Word allows you to create your own custom toolbars, as described in previous tips. After your toolbar has outlived its usefulness, you may want to delete it. You cannot delete the built-in toolbars used by Word. If you want to delete one of your custom toolbars, follow these steps:

1. Choose Customize from the Tools menu. This displays the Customize dialog box.
2. Make sure the Toolbars tab is selected.
3. From the list of available toolbars, select the toolbar you want to delete.
4. Click on the Delete button.
5. You are asked to confirm your request to delete the toolbar. Click on OK to continue. The toolbar is removed.
6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 for any other toolbars you want to delete.
7. Click on Close.

If you are using Word 6 or Word 95, you delete toolbars in this manner:

1. Choose Toolbars from the View menu. This displays the Toolbars dialog box.
2. From the list of available toolbars, select the toolbar you want to delete.
3. Click on the Delete button.
4. You are asked to confirm your request to delete the toolbar. Click on OK to continue. The toolbar is removed.
5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 for any other toolbars you want to delete.
6. Click on Close.
