Summary: Fields are a powerful tool in Word. Normally you don’t see the field code behind the result, because in most instances it is only the result that you are interested in. You can, however, configure Word so that the field codes are actually printed. This is great if you want a printed record of what fields are actually used in the document. (This tip works with Microsoft Word 97, Word 2000, Word 2002, and Word 2003.)
If you use fields in your documents to any extent, you may want to print a copy of your document with field codes showing instead of field results. To do this, follow these steps:
