Removing a Split Window

When you are done working with split windows, there are two ways you can return to a single window. Try either of these methods:

• Choose Remove Split from the Window menu.
• Double-click on the split bar.

When you remove the split window, the resulting single window maintains the attributes of the window in which the insertion point is located. For instance, let's say the window above the split bar shows you your document in Normal view, and the one below the split bar shows you your document in Page Layout view. If the insertion point is below the split bar when you remove the split, the resulting single window will be in Page Layout view. However, if the insertion point had been above the split, then the resulting window would have been in Normal view.
